MEET THE OWNER
Founder Josh Kuhn built Albatross Insurance Agency to bring a higher standard of service, rapid response times, and real-human accountability to commercial clients across 11 states—from Arizona and Idaho to Texas, Florida, and the broader West. Raised in Pocatello, Idaho as one of six children in a small-business family, Josh brings over a decade of commercial experience alongside prestigious CRIS (Construction Risk & Insurance Specialist) and CLCS designations. A finance graduate from Arizona Christian University, he specializes in trade contractors, commercial fleets, general liability, and hard-to-place E&S risks. Under his leadership, Albatross was nationally recognized as a Top Independent Insurance Agency 2025 by Insurance Business Review, while his status as a BNI Arizona Hall of Fame member allows him to serve clients as a well-connected advisor with direct access to trusted local CPAs, attorneys, and vendors.
A former NAIA college golfer, Josh named the agency after golf’s ultimate achievement—an albatross (a rare score of three strokes under par). Off the clock, he is a devoted family man who taught himself country dancing to win over his college sweetheart, Kristi, to whom he's been married for 10 years. WHERE WE GET OUR NAME
Our name is as unique as our agency. If you know Josh, you know he is passionate about golf, which he has played competitively since 2005. Like any golfer, he is always seeking to hit the perfect shot. Contrary to popular belief, a hole-in-one is not the hardest shot in golf. An albatross is the most difficult shot to achieve, requiring 3 strokes under par.
An albatross is elusive both on and off the golf course. The bird is known for its long life and ability to navigate long distances with efficiency. This exemplifies our agency's commitment to providing durable and efficient protection for our clients.
